You may have seen in the news the big announcement from Microsoft that after January 14, 2020, Microsoft will no longer provide security updates or support for PCs running Windows 7. Now is the time to upgrade to Windows 10.
So, what does this mean?
Microsoft will no longer provide technical support, software updates and security updates for Windows 7. If you continue to use this operating system after January 14 your PC will still work, but it will leave you extremely vulnerable to security risks and viruses, potentially leaving your business wide open to a cyber-attack.
The National Cyber Security Centre has warned:
"Malware can spread much more easily on obsolete platforms because, without security updates, known vulnerabilities will remain unpatched. As a result, it’s crucial to move away from them as quickly as possible"
What should you do?
Upgrade to Windows 10, at Gemini we can take you through this process and supply you with the hardware or software which may be required, ensuring a smooth transition. We recommended doing this sooner rather than later, so you have plenty of time left before support ends. If your hardware is older and has seen better days it could be worth replacing them now with newer models so they have the space and tech specifications for Windows 10.
